I don't know if anyone has posted about this before, but it's something I've been thinking about for a while after going through a redpill/masculinity/self improvement phase. My thought is that the promulgation of these ideas, which on the surface are about pushing traditional masculinity and self improvement, end up affirming the System and the current skewed dating market that favors women, and likely make it significantly worse
The premise of the "redpill" is accepting the reality that most women prefer high value attractive men, which I have no disagreement with, obviously. The main divergence as I'm sure many will agree on is in the reaction to this information. While the "blackpill" does not necessarily propose a reaction, believing that this preference is unchangeable, the "redpill" proposes that we need to self improve to become high value men in order to adapt to the dating market and attract women. This seems like a normal, if somewhat naive and idealistic, response. But if you really think about it, it leads to an affirmation of the current System
An unworded assertion of the "redpill" is that there are no problems with the current dating market, just that men need to do better to adapt to the modern times. Once this subtle assertion is exposed, it becomes obvious that this ideology is just another way of saying that men are the problem, society and the dating market are completely fine. This literally sounds no different from what the "bluepill" and the System tell us. Again, the only difference is in the reaction. The "bluepill" says to just be yourself and be confident, the "redpill" says to be masculine and self improve. But they both affirm the status quo
But it has not just continued the current status quo, I believe it has actually made it worse. The rise of the "redpill" has lead to an abundance of self improvement content being pushed as for how to make money, build muscles, and improve your looks as much as you can, insisting that every man needs to be doing these things to get ahead and get a girlfriend. Before this self improvement movement, if you had average looks, being average in the other areas was unimportant and you could probably get a girlfriend and ascend with some luck. Now though, it seems that with the rise of self improvement, average men are forced into gyms and hustling to compete with all the other men who are doing the same in attempts to get a leg up on eachother. This constant push to improve and get rich and muscular has created inflation in the dating market forcing people who otherwise would not have to improve to do so. I know many people won't care because this only really affects men who are already average, but the inflation of the dating market caused by self improvement will ripple all the way down, making it more difficult for unattractive men to compete as well
