There are all manner of jobs I wouldn't want my female relatives to perform but that doesn't mean those jobs should be forbidden. Yes, "sex work" is tawdry and not ideal but neither is the Tinder culture of promiscuity which is shutting some men out of the experience of hetero sexuality to the detriment of their mental health and development. Sex work was banned across the U.S in the 30s to the 50s state by state but the model of "enforced monogamy" of the culture back then has significantly retreated -- so "sex work" can't be framed anymore as an unnecessary indecency -- the real justification for its banning. I'm for normalizing sex work and limiting internet pornography to balance things out. Quite frankly maybe you'd get a healthier sexual culture that way.

If you want to argue for the profession's legalization or decimalization then you can't refer to it using stigma-laden terms. They can't stomach to argue for it from the place of "sexual liberty" or "it would solve rising male sexlessness rate" and as of now "make sex workers safe" and other sex-worker centric rhetoric is the only PC way to argue for legalization even if the real goal for doing so could be to balance male and female sexual interests.

Even in the most liberal and open-minded countries in the world telling somebody you're a whore will elicit an instinctually negative gut-reaction from the average person, and they will keep their distance from you and likely be reluctant to form a social relationship with you.
