There’s many stages of Islamic rule in India.

The English passed it after Raja Ram Mohan Roy and his Arya Samaj forced the company to criminalise it. Yet, you will see the Brits claim credit for it.
The British on the other hand were OBSESSED with race. They started classifying Indians into “sub-races”, some favourable, some not. Caused massive famines which were largely not there during Mughal era and ran a shitty administration for $$$. Fuck them.
Let’s not forget, the Mughal Empire conquered India by bravery and strength of force, while the English did by deceit and corruption.
