Only partially, in the realm of foreign policy.

For most of the last 20 years, diplomats and IR wonks in Western Europe have spent too much time on stupid little pet projects, like ensuring gender equality in development aid, or preserving biodiversity in post-conflict regions. They certainly haven't paid enough attention to the bread and butter of foreign policy: national security. This means energy independence, infrastructure, and military hardware. With the Russian menace on their doorstep, an (non)issue like LGBT rights in Poland and Hungary should be at the bottom of the EU's agenda.

In the last 15 or 16 days, the centre-left and centre-right's foreign policy voices have been reinvigorated. Far-right, pro-Putin voices are being sidelined. The same is true for far-left "progressives" who have no coherent foreign policy outside of appeasement and disarmament. This is certainly a welcome development.

Far left foreign policy is now disgraced in Europe and I hope rest of their agenda will automatically also be.
