Premier League salaries spreadsheet i made

There are 4 teams that are more than 2 places ahead of where you would have guessed based on their team salaries. Wolves, Brighton, Tottenham & Brentford.

JFL at Everton, I never knew they spend so much

For teams at the bottom they want to try to avoid relegation which is the bottom 3 teams of the season. But its not the end of the world if they get relegated, as they still get a lot of money for awhile from the Premier League television rights, so they probably will get promoted in the league below next season.

For teams say 10th to 17th place its not realistic they are going to get into the top 6 or so, but they can try to move up a place or two.

Here is the table sorted by their current place in the season.

You should also do place minus rankings to see if their spending has been a viable investment. Like with Everton it would be 16-6=10 which would be shit but Tottenham is 5-8=-3 which is good

Good idea. One thing is the team revenues minus expenses, to see viability over time. Some teams they may have revenues that are higher or lower than expected by their average placing each season.

There seems to be big echelons too. Like the top 6 teams, they are globally known teams with fans all over the world, who buy merchandise and other revenues like video games. I think for the tv rights there is a distribution to all teams, like 30 million pounds a year. Then the other tv revenues are divided based on viewership/packages people buy.

Here is the link to the Everton annual reports from 2003-2021. https://www.evertonfc.com/club/shareholders/statement-of-accounts

On Page 16 of the 2021 annual report they go into depth on the broadcasting money they are getting which is huge. Yet they still somehow are losing money.

thats the point, its a show business.

Big game two days ago with Everton making the escape from relegation.

Yeah, I saw that coming up. The failure from spending that much resulting in relegation is just kek

They need to attack like this next season as they did in the 2nd half of that game. Most of goals I see is a bunch of bodies way deep and a bunch of guys just kicking the ball somewhere in the middle, with the ball bouncing around wildly.

Even longer shots its usually a bunch of bodies in the way and it takes a deflection in.

Nice documentation. I would have thought Manchester City would be paying the most in salaries. I suspect they may well be next season with Haaland coming in, especially if Ronaldo leaves Manchester United. The fact that City finished 35 points ahead of United in spite of United paying more in salaries says it all about both clubs' standing at present.
