C64 christmas

(maybe it's not exactly right but it's close lol)

My dad had a Commodore 64 with a Popeye game kek

Insane how big the monitor and keyboard are compared to nowadays, where everything is more compact

That CRT monitor looks waaayy newer than 1982. But yeah i imagine thinking how next level all this expensive equipment is

The keyboard there is most of the computer itself!

As it's a Commodore 64 it was built into the keyboard which is wild notion really, these days. The Amiga 500 was the same way.

Yeah I reckon that monitor is much newer too! But overall the gif seemed close enough!

The C64 must have seemed space age in 1982!

It gives it more of an early 2000s vibe since the monitor is the main sight

Yeah it looks interesting :)

I mean, it's not really my typical style of platformer as it's more like Mario than Sonic.

I was more into games like Sonic, Zool, NiGHTS, etc!
You should give it a try this game was lit as fuck. It was the dark souls of the platformers you even get to fight a end-game boss at every stage ending and there was like 5 stages.

So comfy :feelscomfy:

A true 1982 CRT would be a huge discolored beige monstrosity, not that 2000s one.

Wish I had a C64 or an Amiga, but I do have a fully working Commodore 128. This picture isn't too 1982-ey because I believe that's a Commodore 1571 floppy drive from 1985 or 1986. And of course that monitor and third party joystick are much newer. I would also imagine gaming in 1982 was kind of cheeks. You had the 1983 market crash a year later, and a lot of home systems weren't quite there yet compared to arcade games, so a lot of games weren't that great.

Eventually I will get a 1200 baud modem for my 128 and connect my rotary phone to it so I can dial in to the few alive BBSes that are still out there and being kept up.
