They know the US will (most likely) try to defend them in the rare event China invades them, it's too much cost and they're not going to risk the relative stability with China that will disappear as soon as China even gets a whiff of the news that they might be developing nuclear weapons.

Russia is only defending itself against NATO expansion, I don't think there's a reason for China to invade those countries unless for some reason they are in dire need for land.

Even if they needed land they could just take it from their whore states like Iran. There's already rumors they are getting lands in southern Iran (among other things) in return for "supporting" Iran. (Basically blackmail).
