This is why people love their families the most, their ego has painted themselves onto them in some way. It makes sense evolutionarily speaking because the mind needs to concoct some kind of illusion like this in order to enable the best fighting chance for the survival and longevity of genes.

This is also why people only want their friends to succeed so far as they do not surpass them, your mind has a subconscious bump stock with which it begins to stop supporting someone once it feels they are mogging you and becoming a threat on your own resources and status.

Love is unity

It is partially true, because at the same time we are revolted by family because breeding with them would give an unfit gene combination. We want a partner with a different set of genes that still somehow has to similar traits to such. The reason for this is that genes that adapt well in isolation are more fit than genes that adapt together. If you give 50% random genes to your partner that means those genes must act well on their own, since their combination with old genes is lost. If you fuck a family member the genes can adapt too much in combination with family genes, and this will give unfit children.
