Why do normies love saying this? It always enraged me. Yes, I am better off than a somali who is limbless and dying of starvation but that doesn't mean I can't be unhappy with certain aspects of my current life.

People say things like that to you (us) because they are uncomfortable with emotions they cannot fix, so they try to shut them down with perspective instead of empathy.

I had alcoholic father that turned my childhood into hell on earth. My sister told me once "well, atleast he didn't rape any of us... Some people get raped too" :feelskek:

Typical scumbag argument to try to make you shut up

The fact that someone has it worse than you doesn't make your own suffering null and void.

So called "masks". If you try to be truthful, you are interfering with their masks and they get passive aggresive with "OH C'MON STOP PLAYING VICTIM", because like canker said, they cannot deal with those emotions.

That’s their go-to line to remind us how “good” we supposedly have it. They’re emotionless, apathetic people who only ever think about themselves, that’s why they’re indifferent to everything. Every emotion they show is fake, or just for the sake of getting something out of it. They don’t understand how anyone can be miserable, and to them, not having to live like children in a third-world country already means you’ve hit the jackpot in life. Their brains can’t process anything that doesn’t revolve around themselves.

people having it worse than me doesn’t make me feel any better about my own situation

agreed. they will always tell you to look down, so you can take pride in your position. while yes this might be true, as people in the 3rd world would kill for our position but its fine. lmao. they don't want to address our problems. they think everything can be solved with 'be grateful'. they want us to be happy and not to question our position.

they want you to tolerate the hatred/abuse that society has for you. lmao. idiotic whores.

I was told this by a Pajeeta doctor when I was in the psych ward after a suicide attempt. :feelshaha:

Yes. The more we suffer the less they have to be bothered.

i hate normies so fucking much

Or they will say something like "At least you have water and a roof over your head, think about the hungry Africans..." :chad::foidSoy:

Obviously this argument is it can be applied to literally anyone. No matter how bad you have it, there's someone somewhere on earth living in worse conditions. Basically "There's always a bigger fish" but in the other direction.

But obviously they don't use this argument whenever anyone vocalizes any issues they have. They only say this when someone they dislike has a problem, as a way of belittling them, with "you are whiny and entitled" being the subtext (though they'll explicitly say this too sometimes).

Basically whenever someone says "other people have it worse" they are really saying "I don't care about you or your problems and I dislike you enough to vocalize this, now shut the fuck up". Either that or "You're talking about issues that don't effect ME. Only issues that effect ME should get any attention at all, now stop talking about issues that don't effect ME because people should only care about issues that I care about".

Normies only play these cards when it benefits them.

It's an easy fallback when they have nothing meaningful to say and get frustrated when you make valid complaints about your life.
They do this kind of run around with everything. Instead of directly addressing what was said they deflect.

Wonderful some African is starving in a rural village, but I was never competing with him to begin with.
We might as well live on a separate planet.

It's odd binary thinking too, wow we're living like kings because we were born in a country with running water.
There's a spectrum to this and instantly jumping to extremes shows they aren't willing to engage with you seriously.

I always look at it like this

The kids with cancer need to shut up because there’s starving African kids and the starving African kids need to shut up because there’s kids with cancer

"DUDE you have a sword impaled in your leg? Well don't feel so bad because this guy has two swords impaled in his leg!"

Maybe because those people are sadistic amd they enjoy the suffering of other people, maybe they indeed feel better when they see that other people are doing worse then themself

Should have raped your sister for that.

"Theres always someone worse off than you!!" JFL no, theres not. I even believe wholeheartedly that African villagers who don't use the internet or drink from taps are doing better than i am because they at least have sex and relationships

Somalis who live in utter poverty are still FAR less suicidal than autists.

The only type of person suffering to that extend are BPD.
