A device used in medieval torture was the Pear of Anguish. It was used commonly against foids for a variety of reasons: lying, cheating, blasphemers and occasionally faggots. The device worked by placing it in the mouth, anus, breast or vagina, then turning the key to open the leaf up, the force would be strong enough to displace flesh, bones and tissue.
