I'm playing it rn this game is indeed ahead of it's time.
The mechanics or controls maybe lacking but the level design and the dynamics are amazing.
playing it at mid difficulty is suited for me it's just the right level of joy.
it's a big game I still have like 80% unfinished.
you can think of having no map and searching for the next thing to do like a puzzle.

it definitely worths a try if you have crappy hw and can't run sloppa.
it's literally more complex and diverse than some modern indie games as well.

I remember sometimes getting lost in old games.

Never happened to me in modern games. The hand holding has gotten out of control, just so normies can have "fun" and big corpos can make more money from said normies.

I loved ep2 too as well, however I didn't enjoy ep3 very much because it was too difficult for my taste
I guess I won't try doom 2 based on that
