I'm a little unclear on what years they cohabitated, but Keiko was sold and died in 2003, twenty years before Kiska , so if they had a romance maybe Keiko died of a broken heart from missing Kiska?
Of course Keiko was born in 1976 so he might have been older. I can't find Kiska's birth year but she was captured in 1979 so she couldn't have been more than 3 years younger than him.
1982 was when Keiko got transferred to Marineland in Ontario Canada so I assume that's when they were together. Keiko was sold to a Mexican place in 1985 called Reino Aventura so I think they only got to be together for three years. Keiko survived 18 years after they parted, Kiska survived 38 years.
Keiko is actually the name he wass given in 1985 in Mexico - Kiska never would have heard that name. Prior to this he was called "Siggi" or "Kago".

Siggi's infection with papillomavirus (gave him skin outbreaks) was apparently observed in Ontario's Marineland prior to being transferred to Mexico's Aventure theme park.
