The only thing one accomplishes by loving oneself is great frustration with the outside world for not recognizing one's supposed greatness. As @Insomniac pointed out, the superb gentleman in his avi tried that, and it didn't work out all too well for him. Although, to be fair, he did become a seemingly immortal meme, which is more than what 99% of mass shooters manage to accomplish. Anyway, I think my point is that one should only love oneself if one is receiving external validation which maps unto that image. Otherwise, one should strive to become as divorced and detached from one's emotions and ego as one can, as that's preferable to the other realistic alternative, namely self loathing
