Even shit like Telegram or Signal aren't what they once were. And pretty much every app expects you to verify shit with phone numbers or have 2FA which is fucking annoying. I've had FB sockpuppets for over a decade at this point and now risk losing some due to all this verification crap. We all know money destroyed the internet. It became a race to the bottom of who can collect and sell who's data/product. That's not how it was supposed to work, the whole internet use to run on hand shake agreements called peering that allowed the free flow of communication. When it was mostly geeks, it was understood that's where the concept of foss software came from. Even small websites use to run ads because thats how they paid the server bill and what they posted was hobby content, like a game, tool, game guides, blogs not as a business.

When bitcoin became popular I knew it was over.

Only way to win is to go back to small locked down forums and chat rooms by invite only and for users to build their knowledge of computing so that they can self host/distribute files.

Lol yeah that whole debaucle after some guy got banned for doing vigilante shit and also governmental regulation regarding the internet. These tech companies only do tech based solutions even if it has issues because scanning your face just to talk to people seems a little insane or even your own ID documents.

People just want more convenience and most don't care about their privacy anymore simply because they don't know how much they're being watched or they pull the 'nothing to hide' bullshit out of their ass like mindless sheep.
It's simply another way these companies can just sell your data off to the highest bidder and give you crazy products you'll wanna buy.

Listen, current private solutions are unhackable, but this isn't some phone app. It's what lazy normics use. Currently, you can even make anonymous transactions through Monero using Tor, and detection depends solely on whether you make some stupid opsec mistake. These apps aren't bad, but they're more for everyday use (where your privacy is a bit better protected) than for ensuring your privacy. There are other tools for that.
