There is a standard or duty of care which they owe to you and if that is breached then you may have a cause of action for professional negligence. Ordinarily what you described would have qualified for a simple battery, both criminally actionable and likewise giving rise for a civil claim for damages but because you are in a clinical setting, or so it seems to me, you may have waived certain rights of recovery. Finally, PPEcel who posted above me in this thread is the other JDcel whom I had earlier referred you to and he possesses far greater functional knowledge of the law then do I as I believe he is a practicing attorney or has at least passed his respective state bar, whereas I work in academia.

As I said, your ability to recover damages and seek legal recourse may be constrained by any rights that you could have waived incidental to admittance for treatment. And if I am a young Obiwan of legal knowledge, then PPEcel would be a venerable Master Yoda in relation to my meagre Jedi Knight status. I don't know what his practice area is but I strongly suspect that he has more extensive rw experience either briefing these kinds of cases or actually litigating them.

While you're still there, ask for a copy of the policies that they have there or any documents you may have signed incidental to your admittance. If you can, scan them and then PM them to me so I can look them over.
