I've been reading Notes from the underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and relate immensely to the underground man. Does anyone else relate to him? Whats your thoughts on the book? Also for evidence for those who haven't read it I will provide some quotes; "I am a sick man... I am an angry man. I am an unattractive man." and "Last of all gentlemen: it is best to do nothing! The best thing is conscious inertia! So long live the underground! Although I have said that I am green with envy of the normal man, I wouldn't like to be him in the circumstances in which I see him. ... The fact is I'm lying even now! I'm lying because I know as sure as two and two make four, that it isn't the underground that is better, but something different, entirely different, which I am eager for but shall never find. Devil take the underground!" Of course from 2 quotes you won't get much but I hope this elucidates a bit on the underground man, you really need to read the book to understand him, his mad ravings to himself really add to the character.

It was a fun read tbh
I agree, haven't finished it yet but its been good so far. Do you relate to the underground man, why or why not? I also think people who read that and don't relate don't get as good of a experience with the book as people who relate do, they just see some mad weirdo I imagine

Do you relate to the underground man
Yes, except for one trait (I don't want to spoil)
Also, there is this one moment (a dinner party) that is highly relatable for me

Even if you relate it doesn't make things better as you're most likely living your own version of the book

I have just got to the second part of the book, I've finished the first and relate so far. Notes from incel.is would be a gem if someone wrote it

It was a really fun read and very relatable, but I forgot most of the things bcs I have read it some time ago.

It's from 4chan and not .is but I'm reminded of The Last Binge Ever by LondonFrog which is a modern classic, imo, that hasn't been recognized outside of /lit/. He's this truecel "27 year old ugly beta loser nofriends autist with no friends or social experiences since school, no female attention ever, never been to a pub, club, or party, even through university" and it perfectly captures the recursive thought patterns and apathy of one who's totally missed out on life.

sounds like a good read, do I have to go to 4chan to read it or is it published elsewhere?

If you look up the title there’s a pdf on blogspot. There are 3 volumes too, about 150 pages in all
I'll have a look and probably read it after I'm finished with notes
