I have to be honest, I started consciously watching anime back in 2021 when I first watched Kill la Kill cuz of the "I guess you are my little pogchamp" meme so I came from that period, but I don't relate to the tourists at all. But the only thing that matter is join date at the end of the day

I quite liked them so I continued to watch, darling in the franxx, tokyo revengers, then I think 86 and Love is War, then I read the manga for love is war and then I started getting more into the subculture and learn about its history. Idk it's hard to give an accurate account. I just don't think i am a tourist but I'm not in the place of making judgments about myself. Haven't read/watched too many shows.

I am indifferent towards ecchi, but I don't particularly like ecchi in the stuff I read. Some things are enhanced by ecchi, say DxD, but some others are better off without it. I am quitting porn, and I'm beginning to see just how many things come embedded with porn to hook you in and distort your perception. Ecchi isn't gooning porn shit necessarily, even just a pantsu shot will net you an ecchi tag. Take Call of the Night as an example, I think ecchi there is good, but because the story is already pretty good on its own. If you try to write a manga and give it a good story, but you fail, and you only rely on ecchi to sell, then I think it's a bad use of ecchi.

It's not one side or the other necessarily, one can be in the middle too.
