A woman at my workplace once told me she couldn't imagine living alone. I can't imagine being in a relationship and living with someone. It feels completely alien to me. She was still in her early 20s, probably straight out of university. I imagine she moved out from her parents to slut around when she enrolled into a university and after graduating she moved in with her boyfriend.

But lets say they did that instead, what would've been the public reaction? Their wouldn't have been one of course, because nobody cares when men kill themselves. Maybe a few people who knew our hypothetical suicide might virtue signal about what a tragedy it is, yet they wouldn't have done anything to actually prevent the suicide from taking place.
