Day after day, the females in my family always feel like humiliating me and talking to me like I'm a total buffoon. I made a post a while back that described how my mother and sister felt the need to try and emasculate and humiliate me for having 'small 'feet, and this is somewhat similar.
Basically, the main way we cook everything in my house is using a gas stove. I didn't have too many issues with it for a while, but honestly, gas freaks me out and I'm always constantly wary of it spreading and setting me on fire. The fear might be somewhat irrational, but I've seen way too many rekt videos on /gif/ that have something like that happening—so I've come to be really careful when using it.
Now, our stove has had some kind of mechanical issue with the actual 'ignition' part, so my parents turned it off and now we have to manually light the fire using a match or a lighter. There are, however, a few issues that I have with that... First off, I am abysmal at using both of those things. I've just never had to light anything ever in my life, so I struggle to get the lighter and match to actually work. On top of that, I don't want to use a lighter to light the stove. Again, my fear is probably irrational, but I'm worried that the gas inside the lighter will somehow end up igniting and then I'd have to deal with the explosion that would come from it—therefore, I just resign myself to using solely matches...
Well, just this morning I was trying to cook eggs and sausage for breakfast. My sister was already making her food and using the stove, so I waited patiently and brought out all the ingredients I needed. After she finishes, she proceeds to turn off the stove right in front of my face. It slightly irritated me, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and just assumed that she SOMEHOW didn't see me clearly waiting to use the stove.
I asked my mother where the matches were, and my sister felt the need to mockingly tell me that the lighter was in a really obvious place. I responded and told her that I didn't want to use the lighter, and she got all confused and irritated for whatever reason. My mother told me that the matches were in some place, so I went to grab them and turned on the gas. While I went to light the match.
My sister then turned off the gas and called me the most retarded person ever for turning on the gas and letting it run while I was trying to light the match (to be fair, I was quite far away from the stove).
Admittedly, I realized that she was right—I'm really low-IQ so I hadn't ever considered that. I had always just assumed that the gas would naturally dissipate enough to the point it'd be fine. Anyway, I told her that I never claimed to be bright and that she didn't need to insult me the way she did. She then saying stuff like 'I'm only four years younger than you and I know this stuff. You should be ashamed.' My mother also joined in as well and started teasing me for it. My sister then just rolled her eyes at me and then left the kitchen.
Anyway, I was struggling to actually get the match going. I kept trying to strike it, but it wouldn't light. Eventually, my mother said 'are you really struggling this much?' and told me to give it to her so that she could light it for me. My sister also verbally exclaimed 'oh my god' and then went over towards the stove and used the lighter to light the stove for me—and mockingly said 'there, I did it for you!'
I made my breakfast, but I realized at that moment that none of the females in my family respect me in the slightest. I am sick of this constant mockery of me. I decided that I'm going to just slowly detach myself from them entirely. One may not be the brightest person, but I still have enough pride and self-respect to not take this humiliation against my name as the Scarlet Prince.
The gall they have to sully my title...
