Yeah, imo best is probably matrix (for now) even though the UI sucks if you can find a good homeserver that isn't gay with it's policy unlike the main one, you should be fine.

Besides if a chat is E2EE they can't read them so it only matters for rooms without E2EE.

Yeah, I agree. there is also the revolt app but idk much about it besides its supposed to be a better discord alt

I haven't tried revolt yet but I did use Guilded (mainly for my gaming in 2 vcs) but idk.

Never tried either, I've heard decently good things about revolt but some peolpe still seem to say vc is trash and I have no clue about linux support
