I walked along a path
My daily trek from work to home
I heard a friendly voice and saw
The smiling face of poverty
Ishmael in his ragged throne
Reclining on the asphalt
The heavy stress of dread of debt
Forced me to look down and keep walking
I have no right to live this way, free of poverty
