Yes it is soooooo cool :D

And do you know why??

Because on Linux I can make my desktop behave however I want!! No Windows 11 weirdness or macOS weirdness I can make it act EXACTLY how I like it ^_^

You know? Isn't that a great thing ^_^

OK sorry I've had a lot of caffeine but it's still true, lol

Basically my desktop is like this but tweaked a bit and in more of a dark mode:

It acts like classic Windows tbh!

Looks clean.

I'd use loonix too, but my gaming cope is too strong

One step closer to troondom! :feelskek:

uwu

It does look nice, to be fair.

Thanks! I know it's not technically my desktop but still!

I actually don't change it much as... it's pretty good as it is.

Yeah why overcomplicate!

macOS in particular is SO complicated!! And Windows 11 is... well, Windows 11. >.<

I'd use loonix too, but my gaming cope is too strong

Yeah idk about gaming on Linux. I might find out soon though because I'll build an OK-ish gaming machine and put Linux on it, and... yeah along with my Mac hooked up too I should get a fairly good range of games.

Well... I use nvidia so it never even began and people generally overrate linux compatibility and my situation is made harder by the fact I don't use steam and just pirate games so I have to tinker to make games run normally

Yeah, I have tried MacOS a couple of time. It was a mindfuck.

I like your enthusiasm, tbh. You remind me of myself when I was just 17 or 18 and would try out all these different distros, research about them and figure out what works best for me.

I don't have much enthusiasm for anything anymore, tbh.

In the end they're all the same and just use different DE/Package manager

WINDOWS 11 IS THE BEST THING EVER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa

Yeah, I wouldn't know nowadays. I have been out of the game for just as many years.

I feel like I am dead already.

You just use windows these days?

I think people approach Linux compatibility incorrectly tbh.

When you're using a system that's generally less supported, it's really wise to select hardware that you know works well with it.

It's more work for sure but... you have to do it with Mac too. No OS is perfect.

It's so weird. Very maximalist. Which is strange because I always thought of Apple as a minimalist company.

Oh >.<

But yeah I used to try lots of distros at that kind of age too! I used Linux for the first time at 18. I've used Suse, Slackware, Ubuntu, Mint... and others a little here and there I think.

I don't chop and change too much these days but sometimes I get tempted by one for one reason or another. I might switch to OpenMandriva at some point.

I hear this theory a lot but I don't really agree with it at all. I think distros vary quite a lot.

Yeah, like a normgroid, tbh. I would use Linux on a second machine, but my lack of motivation for most things these days hinders me, tbh.

Of course, but these days there's a lot of debian based slop distros and even among arch, and I am not 100% against it as some of these distros have their own unique uses so that's why they exist, but there a lot of just pointless ones

I use Windows 7 set up to look like Windows 95/98.

How do you manage? do you just use older hardware because if it's too new windows 7 simply won't manage to run

Yes, my laptop is from 2009, I also have a gaming computer from 2012 with the same setup.

Yeah I guess. Generally speaking I don't tend to go too far down the DistroWatch list. There is some gold in there though even further down, like OpenMadriva, Devuan and Slackware.

Huh, that's wild that you still run 7. Lots of stuff won't run on it though now like even Steam or Roblox.

It's probably the best OS ever for most people though.

Old hardware is cool to play around with and is ideal even with linux as all drivers are 100% available than with new these days

Lots of old stuff still doesn't have amazing Linux drivers though. It's hit and miss.

And yeah old hardware is fine but a lot of software will refuse to install on older Windows versions.
