It's kinda stupid. I play both male and female characters (not in Fortnite, because I don't play that, but in MMORPGs). Male characters are easier to identify with, female characters are nicer to look at. So it basically depends on whether you self-insert, then you will likely choose a male character, or play with a character, then you will more likely choose a female character.
