I didn't overestimate by that much, because it still took me 2 hours to do one load. When I would load wood into the woodbox at home, it'd take me more like 15-20 minutes.

This is the culture that Boomers have left behind. This whole notion of making your work into your life (with high taxation) is nothing more than a thinly veiled and modern version of slavery.

Except even for them, life was better and they generally had their basic needs met. Not even this holds true anymore for an increasing percentage of the male population. It is like the difference between slaving away for a sweet meal and slaving away for droplets of water.

You could work in a factory with only a highschool education and be able to afford a house and raise a family just on that income alone. Now even if you do all of the things society encourages you to do success is not always guaranteed. You could get good grades in school, get into a good university, study hard and at the end you might just be left with a mountain of debt while working a job you're overqualified for.
The only jobs left now are in the service industry, useless office jobs or in the government bureaucracy.

I can relate, I was trying to look for a good paying job where I work from home so I don't have to worry about not being able to get a ride there because it's too far for my mom to drive me there. Btw, if I call an Uber, my mom will begin charging me for a bunch of other stuff including rent because "If I can afford an Uber, I can afford that."
