Outside of visuals, most remakes significantly dumb down or streamline the main gameplay loop. They're not a valid way to experience the original when they remove a significant amount of what made the original iconic.

Look at the Halo Combat Evolved remake. They're removing the health packs. The health packs in Halo 1 introduced an element of strategy that was lost in its successors.

When the game is so homogenized and streamlined, it ceases to be the original game.

And they tend to love to make games longer with pointless bloated expanded areas while originals were tightly packed and you wanted more not to finish it quicker.

not a remaster but ac valhalla is a prime example of this I could barely finish the story and they kept on adding stuff later on endlessly I haven't played it in like 3 years

I guess I would have to experience those games to be able to give my honest opinion.

So, which would you recommend I play from the Halo series.

I am open for something new as long as I can still move my head without pain.

Combat Evolved.

Combat Evolved.
Alright then. I hope it will be available on xbox because I played my first ever Halo game on the Xbox.
The controls were, all things considered, good.

I liked driving / flying those motorcycle like jets.
They remind me of those things from GTA Online. Forgot the name. Only ever saw them in youtube videos.

Oh yeah, the oppressor.

I could get the Master Chief collection on Disc. Super inexpensive.

That's better then games being bloated with long ass dialogue that you have to sit and wait to finish then another one
