Modern GTA games have so little soul

The last one with any real character to it IMO was... POSSIBLY GTA 4 or Vice City but tbh I'd more say GTA 1 and 2.

Yeah it definitely has something going for it at least.

Most GTAs are so plain.

At least with 1 and 2 it had a fun and arcadey style.

Did you know that Shenmue was originally developed for the Sega Saturn, not for the Dreamcast?

There are deno videos of it on youtube.

Check out how great it looked. That game could have aingle handedly saved the Saturn.

My favourite is GTA III with that doomer atmosphere, but I can also enjoy some GTA SA.

GTA Vice City is simply too warm for me. It's almost always sunny, humid and sometimes raining.

I need a GTA with actual winter and a cold cuty in the far north.

GTA III is therefore my best bet.

Frosted Winter or whatever the mod is called is a great addition, albeit unofficial.

Everyone is rude and the world is negative and vandalised and whatever else. There's like zero beauty. Way less than even in day-to-day life, let alone a game like Shenmue that is basically made to be a beautiful representation of life.

I couldn't bring myself to play GTA IV without mod support. And even with mods, I still preferred earlier entries such as GTA:VC and GTA:SA.

In GTA V I gave up on it during a mission where you had to control a dog or something. There was a mission before that where you had to drive a garbage truck.... like what?

I think that's precisely the point, you play GTA because you want to be enveloped by an atmosphere of total nihilism and destruction, of crime and moral corruption.
