Replaying it on N64. My opinion has changed. Honestly, it's a pretty good sequel to Ocarina of Time. It's not better than OOT, as there's far less dungeons, but it is pretty solid. I like the art style and aesthetic of the original Majora's Mask. It's aged surprisingly well.

The dungeons are solid. The music is fantastic.

THAT part with the baby crying :feelsree::feelsree::feelsree:
I hate it

It’s always been my favorite. I was even obsessed with it around the time it came out, it had so many cool mechanics.

Exactly. Majora’s mask is a great game. Would’ve been amazing if I had it growing up without using guides

For anyone on the fence, it’s on the upper tier of difficulty for a zelda game and shouldn’t be done while multitasking because attention to detail matters (which is what makes it one of the few true zelda games in spirit)

Eh, I don't think it's too hard. Somewhat easier than Ocarina of Time imo. The hardest part is finishing the quests without guides.

Yeah. It stands out. Majora is a good villain.

Stonetower temple

Exactly.

Collecting golden skulltulas in oot felt easier than this
I don't know if it's worth it. The one part about the game I think is genuinely bad are a lot of the side quests. So much of them are just talking. Getting the ultimate reward ruins the final boss too.

The mask side quests are what makes the game. Reminds me of getting stuck on zelda games in my early childhood for months. That nostalgic difficulty is why I even play zelda games nowadays in the first place

I remember when I was a kid the game and the soundtrack used to scare the shit out of me so much that I could only play like 5 minutes a day before wanting to stop

I personally gave up and looked up a guide in the Stone Tower, almost at the end of the dungeon. I was really close to glory... Later on I redeemed myself by passing Twilight Princess without guides of any sort. That felt pretty good, considering it's double the time of Majora's Mask.

Gotta disagree, slightly better at least; the dungeons are two times longer (roughly) and way harder, I replayed Ocarina of Time this year, even the Water Temple wasn't much of a deal (FUCK THAT SILVER KEY THOUGH), but I have bad memories of the Stone Temple and it's puzzles - As stated before.
I just love the soundtrack, the level design (most of it), the mask mechanic, the grim ambience and lore and that moment where Cremia hugs Link (I thirsted over her when I was little [still do]).
Overall 10/10 game for me and my favorite from the Zelda franchise.

It was late October-Nov since I played oot. Can’t believe it’s been that long ago:cryfeels:.

I seriously almost looked up guides for while I was stuck on the stone temple as well because I thought I was spending too much time. I kept going in circles not finding anything new. Iirc, I looked up the guide, only read the beginning before quitt, as the feeing of shame was too overwhelming.
I did use a guide for the OOT water temple after getting stuck on it for more than a day. Which was unprecedented. The thing I had to do was something I already thought I did which was infuriating, given the shame I have looking up these guides
