How is it compared to the first one?

Also, does it have replayability or is there nothing left to do after finishing the main story?

I've heard it's actually worse than the original somehow and has tons of weird glitches. This was a few years ago though, maybe they've patched it since then.

I'm on the ps4. So, glitches aren't going to be a big enough issue.

How's the story? And can you do stuff other than the main quest?

It's a remaster not a remake. It comes with the DLC too.

I played it a few months ago and it was a decent game, although there was still room for improvement in some aspects like gun balistics or driving mechanics

It's one of those games I never finished tbh. The missions feel uninspired with lots of driving (speed limit is enforced) delivering stuff, cutscene then shooting people. The open world is empty and doesn't add much to the story.

I also saw that the DLC are awful with just repetitive missions and barely a story behind.

The setting, graphics and music were very good though.

Nah, it's a very linear game despite having an open world. Besides the two DLCs there is nothing else to do.

I see. Thanks.

Is the same game, it changes nothing from the original 2010 release. As a game, mediocre if you ask me, the mafia 1 definitive edition is a better game and real remake, i recommend only that one

Unfortunately I have played the first one already. I think I'll just keep it on a hold and buy another game

Good, there's better sandbox games out there if you're into that kind of games. Also you were asking if there's something to do besides the story, the answer is no. The only thing you can do in the mafia 2 world is driving from one mission to the other

What do you think about KCD1 and KCD2?

Not interested in that franchise, i only played 1 hour in the first game and uninstalled out of boredom.

Those are role playing games with lots of dialogues and going from one place to the other. Ive read the combat system is pretty bad so watch out.

Some of the greatest games ever made, imho. I have always been something of a medievalist chud, and KCD was like the game I had been waiting for all my life—a meticulously reproduced singular historical setting (1403, Kingdom of Bohemia) with accurate Late Medieval dress, armour and weaponry. That game was a fucking revelation for me, and I will love Dan Vávra and Warhorse forever.

I'll try it out today

Same btw. I haven't studied much medieval facts but the whole era and aesthetic is my favourite; towns, weaponry, armour, classes/gentries, castles etcetera

It's a game you beat once and don't want to play it again. I had a lot of fun with it at launch but i doubt i would enjoy it now. But still it's still one of my favourite games. Remake of first game is now probably objectively a better game.

Both KCD games can take a while to really get into (and for the world to really open up, in a way that you can actually enjoy it), but they're also games that reward persistence and ingenuity. The crime system in KCD2 is especially realistic, but like a good, intelligent 15th Century thief, the game rewards you for finding ways around it.

Though it also helps to just be a nerd, and enamored with the setting.

I didn't know much about 15th Century Bohemia specifically when I first played KCD, but I started really getting into things like the Hussite Wars and just the general vibe of the Holy Roman Empire in the Late Middle Ages. Because you really feel like you're part of a larger European world...you'll encounter traders and travelers from Germany and Italy, for instance. And the best armour in the game comes from cities like Nuremberg and Milan.

Played it for 5 hours since we last talked. It's slow, and often frustrating. But it compensates for it by being really interested and entertaining. I keep coming back to play it after rage quitting. :feelshaha:

Yes exactly. Europe is unexpectedly diverse and people from far away are settled at places far away from home, even in the 15th century; fascinating.

It's not very enhanced compared to the original Mafia II, but it is still worth checking out. As someone with hundreds of hours on the PC and console versions of Mafia II, I only played the Definitive Edition as an excuse to replay the game, and to play the DLC, which I never bought for the original Mafia II.

Still a super fun game though. I am a big fan of the Mafia games (except III which sucks niggercock, and Old Country which I have yet to play, though I will probably buy it during the Steam Winter Sale).

definitive edition is hot garbage and it is bugged. The original one was so fucking good it is easily in top 5 of my favorite games ever. I platinum'd mafia 2 def edition on my ps5 and it was pain in the ass. So many glitches.
