They do show explicitly that Guts wants revenge for example. He talks and thinks about it. But it's never explicitly mentioned, it's implicit, that if he wasn't a simp for casca he would never have survived this eclipse event.

If I remember he was simping for her and he did return after leaving once he heard the mercenary company became bandits lead by a foid, prior he offered her to leave with him and start a traditional family but she refused as she was loyal to griffin and it was her stupid idea of trying to rescue griffin after a whole YEAR of captivity instead of immediately or just moving on.
