I've had a survival Minecraft world for years that I have been playing very frequently whenever I have the time. An hour ago whilst I was playing the power went out due to a storm. When the power came back on, I loaded up Minecraft and clicked on the world and there was a pop-up saying the file was corrupted. I didn't think too much of it so I clicked ok, just to see the world be completely deleted.

I've looked up countless YT videos on how to recover saved worlds, but sadly there is no way it can be restored.

The world motivated me to get up each morning and do what I needed to do in real life, so that eventually I can work towards progressing the world in Minecraft. Now that it's gone, it's hard to find the same enjoyment anywhere, an in a sense feels like there is less to live for.

Always make copies.

Any adult still playing minecraft should kill themselves

Before fully giving up, there are a few things worth checking that YouTube videos often miss:

  • Check the saves folder manually
Even if the world โ€œdisappearedโ€ from the menu, the folder may still exist:

    .minecraft/saves/
Sometimes the level.dat file is corrupted but the region files are intact.
  • Restore from region files
    If the world folder exists:
    • Rename level.dat_old to level.dat
    • Or create a new world with the same seed, then copy the region folder from the corrupted world into the new one
  • System restore / file recovery tools
If the folder was deleted, tools like Recuva or Disk Drill can sometimes recover recently deleted dataโ€”especially if the drive hasnโ€™t been written to much since.
  • Backups folder
    Minecraft sometimes auto-creates backups:

    .minecraft/backups/
Even an older version of the world is better than nothing.

I'm not sure if this is possible on PS5.

The only thing I have found is that if I had Playstation Plus before the power went out, I could look through the PS+ data storage to try and recover it. But even then I don't know if that would have even fixed it.

its a game for 11 year olds bruh seriously
Even so, does that warrant wishing for someone to kill themself because they play it?

Yeah, on PS5 youโ€™re right that you donโ€™t have the same recovery options as PC. Thereโ€™s no access to region files or manual saves, so corruption usually comes down to backups.

That said, there are still two things worth checking, and you donโ€™t need PS+ right now for one of them:

1) Check local console save backups

Sometimes the PS5 keeps a previous local save even if the current one corrupts.

Go to:
Settings โ†’ Saved Data and Game/App Settings โ†’ Saved Data (PS5) โ†’ Console Storage

See if Minecraft has more than one save entry or an older timestamp. Itโ€™s rare, but it does happen.

2) If you ever had PlayStation Plus

If PS+ cloud saves were enabled at any point before the outage, there may be an older version saved automatically.

Path:
Settings โ†’ Saved Data and Game/App Settings โ†’ Saved Data (PS5) โ†’ Cloud Storage โ†’ Download to Console Storage

Even if the cloud save is a few days or weeks old, it can still recover most of the world.

Youโ€™re right that itโ€™s not guaranteedโ€”but itโ€™s the only real recovery route on console, and itโ€™s worth checking carefully.

I had Playstation + many years ago, long before creating the world.

Thanks for the information, I will try this when the power comes back on. My faith is low but there is still hope.

ded serious bruh, it's no different from playing hello kitty island adventure at your age
Not a good comparison as that Hello Kitty Island Adventure is strongly effeminate in terms of its tonality (faggotry/troon territory), whereas base game Minecraft is not.

This is why you don't play minecraft on a playstation

Just tried, nothing was there

Thank you so much, I prayed about it as well after it happened last night.

>Playing on PS5 :feelskek:
you were just asking for it

The Universe was giving you a message: it's time to start a new game. Pokemon Unbound.

That fucking blows, sorry to hear that. I'd suggest always making a backup save or two. I do that with many games. I don't know if you can do that with minecraft though. I hope you get your world back.

Unfortunately I couldn't save the progress with backups as it was only available with Playstation +. I tried to make a new world, but it just didn't feel the same. I've quit now, deadshot.io has been fun to play on the laptop.

That's a very Jewish thing they did.

Brutal. What will you play now?

It really is, and there is no way around it as well. The cheapest is $15 AUD for me. Such a rip off just to upload to cloud storage.

Deadshot.io has been quite enjoyable, the player base seems very respectful as well. I'll also just spend more time here too.

What games do you enjoy playing?

Maybe there's a way to do it with a separate flash drive. I'm sure there is, I'd suggest research into it.

:f: Similar thing happened to me

Brutal.

Sorry that it happened to you.

Any updates?

Iโ€™m sorry that happened

I have tried every method available of getting the world back, but I jsut have to accept it's gone for good now.

I tried making a new world recently but it doesn't feel the same, so I quit the game.

Let others enjoy their copes nigga + Minecraft isn't such a childish game.

I thought you can backup games save file from console via USB and upload to your PC and cloud for free
