Can you explain this math to me, I don't see how 8% relates to the calculation of (0.92)^40, where does the 8% come in?

Its that math good though, because that mean if just 1% of a population of women has aids if you have sex with 40 of them you have a 33% chance to get aids, that seems rather high for just 1%

Well not every encounter is very likely to transmit HIV. The rate of transmission isn't 100%.
But yes, the likelihood of getting an STD is pretty high. That's why we've evolved to not like sluts with double digit partner counts. The odds are pretty high that someone with 40+ partners would have some sort of STD.
