A man carrying a knife in each hand has attacked a group of schoolgirls waiting at a bus stop just outside Tokyo, killing two people and injuring 17 before killing himself.

Gun control is more than just strict in Japan. They are practically banned over there. It is 99% illegal to own a gun in Japan unless you have a very specialized hunting license only given out very rarely. And even then, you are limited to a low capacity pump action shotgun, handguns and rifles are still completely out of the question.

In the entire country of Japan maybe just a few hundred people legally own guns.
