The main motivator for a man to doing anything is the possibility of one day getting a wife and having children.
Civilizations need men to build them, maintain them, contribute to them and protect them, civilizations literally live or die because of men.
If men are unable to get a woman or pass his genes down, they'll become lazy, depressed and unmotivated.
They'll begin to wonder why they should contribute to society and protect it, feeling it would be for nothing.
This is also why polyamorous chad-only relationships were outlawed, even though they used to be accepted.
Because if a few men were taking up all the women, they'll a large portion of the male populace who will have not have a woman and be doomed to singleness.
As a result, monogamy was invented, one man gets one woman.
The women were evenly distributed among the men, and every man got the chance to reproduce and have children.
Monogamy also became intertwined with law and religion too so it can be more enforceable.
This was also were divorce was frowned upon and made impossible in the past.
One man had to stick with one woman.
And as for older men having relations with younger women and teen girls being illegal, despite being perfectly normal, biologically.
If an older man dates and marries a younger woman or teen girl, she will be off the market, and a man around her age will have less of a chance to find a wife.
