They just can't admit or admit to themselves that it's over. I'm not saying that you should rope, but I don't think that therapy is going to replace a relationship, sex, or validation from females. That doesn't mean that it's wrong to seek out copes of course
For example, the responders in this r/justneckbeardthings thread don't seem overly concerned with the loneliness or inceldom itself that could have pushed the OP in the screenshot to waifuism (IF that's the case, I don't know the background of him. But let's say it is for the sake of argument since the responders imply that that's the case), but rather the fact that he has affection for 2D girls. It's only at this point that it's considered important for him to get involved with women.
