Ded srs in Spain there's the north south divide and northeners usually tease southerners that:
-They're poorer
-They're lazy and laid back
-Have yokel accents
-Mostly agrarian and live off governement benefits
-Their region is a desert with 40º in summer

And tbh it's not that far off, it's a beautiful part of the country for tourism but living there is rough unless you've got a lot of money or are a public servant because there are so few jobs. Also the people there are a good bunch but can be a bit special.

Whenever I read about Southern Italy it always reminds me of Southern Spain but more exaggerated both in the good and bad parts... Is this true? I went to Naples a few years ago and except for the traffic (do you get your driving license in a cereal box? ), that I saw two fights in public and a guy tried to scam me buying a bus ticket (he wanted to sell me the expensive one) I loved it there. But can't really make conclusions unless you know the society well.

Also I find the North/South divide pretty dumb and stupid. When you go abroad, they don't care which part you're from you will always be a spanishcel. And the north of Spain has a lot of shitty stuff tbh like bad weather (depending on where you go) and very closed minded people.

OP is mostly right I think but at the same time the divide between northern and southern Italy isn't as large as it used to be in the 20th century
