I'm not a big fan of heavy metal in particular. It's probably because I started listening to more modern metal (90s+) and that's the kind I got used to. I'm the most attracted to fusion genres, particularly when it's a fusion of things that contrast each other a lot.

I used to identify as a metalhead, wearing band T-shirts, hanging out with other metalheads and going to concerts, but I realized it wasn't for me. I did find out about a lot of great bands from the others but personally I don't share my music taste much because music is a personal thing for me. I hate concerts because they're full of people and loud music - the opposite of what music means to me. The metalhead community isn't even for outcasts anymore because it's been infiltrated by normies and foids.

Also, I don't like the restriction of identifying as someone who likes a certain genre (even if it's as broad as "metal"). Nowadays I just listen to whatever music fits my mood/thoughts and isn't some vapid shit.

hell, even a few months ago at some transfer students party I went to I met a guy who was kinda into metal and he and I were laughing and talking. On discord later I asked him about hanging out and he said he was busy on Saturday’s so I asked what day could work I was left on sent. I met another dude there, some 6’6 tyrone who is in a band and liked a lot of music I liked and we had a great conversation but after exchanging a couple texts I was later left on delivered.

hell a few years ago at community college I met a group of metal heads on campus and when I asked if they wanted to be friends they kinda laughed and didn’t know what to say (if I just asked if they wanted to exchange numbers I would’ve probably been left on read anyway or even delivered).
