Just my two cents here... I think you're using "detox" tongue and cheek. And I like it. I think we can detox from chemicals we dump into our body, not from ones our body is programmed to make. And the problem with the human sex drive is that it's both genetic (hormones, neurology) and deeply, fundamentally embedded in the species. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt--some people claim to be successful sublimating or distracting themselves, but that it's universally such a big deal (among clergy, ascetics, philosophers...) and births so many scandals argues it's a lifelong struggle at best.
You remember reading about gene therapy? Its goal is to use recombinant DNA to replace damaged genes with healthy copies. Instead of detoxing from the sex drive, I think a goal might be to eradicate it at its root. Even beyond chemical castration. Like a cancer, better gone than dormant.
