I have an idea that I can monetize. I don't want to give out info because I might put myself at risk for Doxxing. The idea involves VR.

At my university I'm going to attend networking events to build a team. One of the ways to get this idea notoriety is to participate in a hackathon, but my background isn't in computer science, it's history and philosophy. Although I did some research online, I have no idea how these events work or what to expect.

Is there anyone here who can give me suggestions? Until I get a lead I'm just shooting in the dark.

do it brocel i got my current job from a hackathon

if your intention is to make money off your idea then first research the legal aspects of protecting your idea because if it reaches the market before you sort the legal details you have no rights.

Every software has a legal side.

Developers know this because they have to keep this in mind on EVERY product they work on. Developers are just wage slaves and WILL capitalise on your idea . Do you think they want to wage slave yet they are the ones with the experience and the boss only knows a percentage of the stuff they know? Of course you might say the boss is also an experienced programmer, yes he is but he deals with so many other things that the developers because they have to continuosly read up to fix their bugs obviously know way more due to their none stop reading and coding every day.

Just my 2 cents. We did law last semester. I study Information Systems so just be warned. Okay bye.

Is there any point in doing that stuff if you can't code? I mean if it's like 6 months away I guess you could learn some stuff by then but still :dafuckfeels:

Thank you for the insight! Luckily I have a relative in business who has given my the run down on NDA's and other legal contracts. I'm going to an event tomorrow and I will be very careful about what I say. My relative said that if I meet someone I connect with, I should take them to lunch the day after and then explain my project to them. Not during the event.

I'm going to assemble a team with skills I don't have. Steve Jobs had Wozniak; I have the vision and they have the technical know-how.

From the limited amount I've shared my idea, people seem to be interested and support it. I'm going to try and get the ball rolling which may or may not culminate in some kind of event.
