Part of it is that it's hard for new websites/communities to gain traction, especially since, at the beginning, they'll have to deal with all the negatives of having a site, like hosters not liking which content you're hosting, spam (some of which is...unsavory, to say the fucking least), with none of the upsides like, again, a community. Not many people are willing, or have the means, to just support a website like that (keep in mind that supporting a website tends to be easier when there's an established community you can rely on e.g. for donations or mod positions), especially with the rise of easier alternatives. That's the next part, a lot of communities nowadays are literally just glorified groupchats or gatekept beyond repair where you already have to know someone within the community AKA be "in the know" to be in, and the fact that it's easier to make a shitty glorified groupchat instead of an actual base for a community fucks things up even more. Why go through the effort of making a site, or even a shitty subplebbit, when you can just hop on with your xisters on 'cord and make a gooning server together?

Hard disagree, this forum in itself is a niche space and new posts are mostly water, and, it has been slowly becoming a place where certain members become sort of "attached" to some, so when some stop using or leave the others do the same.

And lets be real, a huge chunck of us here are neets, dont do shit (not that im saying it would change things) but others do have shit lake wageslave, college etc. so are more prone to have lesser use.
