I think that would even out unfair size differences at least a tiny bit. It would make fighting a lot more risky. A simple argument that would’ve turned into a fist fight, could lead to two people bleeding out on the ground in pools of blood.
Now a 6’3 - 6’4 guy for example would have to be more cautious about picking fights with 5’4 - 5’6 guys because that could mean potentially having your throat or eyes clawed at, especially in close range in tight spaces. Human skin is so weak to sharp damage, regardless of size of the person.
However for our physiology, claws would’ve been more of a hinderance for day to day life. It would’ve made tool use harder and punching would also be impossible because you’d stab your palms and it would hurt, although sharp damage is more effective than blunt in most cases anyways.
