I don't know in honesty. It seems when reading the mathematics or philosophy papers of the ancient Greeks that they would be up among if not better than the most advanced people today. Even the way of logic they are using. Just calm and going step by step.

Somebody wrote those papers and at some point we were smart enough to go back and then start building on top of that work, using the same logical processes.

Then in the 20th century we went back to more religion like relativity or quantum mechanics that make zero sense and don't lead to anything.
