As much as dating is dominated by dating apps nowadays, back in the day you got your wife/girlfriend through your social circles; friends, extended friends, friends of your friends, ect. To adress your take; You can have friends and still struggle; but to be more specific, it depends on what friends. I used to be friends with a loser like me back in primary school, does that make me a fakecel? You need a well-built social circle to truly reap the "maybe-potential" of getting a partner through that method; in practice that simply won't work now.
