Putin isn't stupid, and neither are his military strategists. He's not going to invade a neighboring country (who used to be part of greater Russia) and risk all of the political and economic backlash on a half-cocked attempt.

Good point, when I was doing those posts about the Ukraine's demographics something I didn't realize is how vast the country is, at 600,000 sq/km. I think 60,000 soldiers it just seems not enough, of course I don't know what is actually going on with the war propaganda/fog of war, but it seems like the Russians are getting bogged down.

This is the problem the USA military faces in Asia is we don't have the army manpower ordinarily to actually control these countries because they are so big and populous. We always need a proxy government in those countries.

Ya it nearly is a declaration of war, I don't think Russia expected the West to be this aggressive. The next country to be integrated into our Anglo-Saxon empire is the Ukraine. That imo is why Russia had to go for it now, because if they hadn't gone then soon Ukraine would be in the Western fold, and then Russia is next.

Thing is this weaponry its going to be really hard to stop as that starts flowing into the Ukraine, if the Ukrainians are willing to fight. Like German made military equipment is going to be frighteningly good.

The torrent of sanctions and weapons and "aid" will be insurmountable and merely from a numerical standpoint it is an unwinnable position by virtue of how lopsided in favour of the whole eurozone plus america its way way too much, the west if they cut off russia from the western trade and commerce may even be enough to cripple russia pretty quick let alone military aid and forces on top.

if you look at reports and what china has been doing at the UN voting etc it seems china is winding down its support of russia over the ukraine, remember it abstained in the recent us led vote while russia used its veto power.
