Not because i think the game itself is bad, it does some things better than fallout 3.
for example, i love how the game has weapon mods, more quests, better expansion packs and the factions you choose to side with actually matters due to the reputation system.
However, something that really kills whatever affection i had for the game is the developers bias on what faction you should choose.
the devs obviously view the NCR as the good guys, while they view mr. house as neutral and Caesars legion as evil.
this is despite the fact that the mojave wasteland would honestly and realistically be a better place if ruled by the legion.
Caesars legion are a patriarchal, traditional civilisation where men are dominant and women are subservient to them.
both men and women also have specific gender and social roles assigned to them.
this model for civilization has been used multiple times all over the world, throughout human history.
its pretty much human nature due to so many different races, religions and cultures practising it, and still do so today.
the NCR on the other hand, practise gender equality, which is a civilisation model that does not work and can never work.
in a gender equal society, women will harness all their time, energy and resources into pursuing an education, career or a job and not getting married, settling down or having children.
women who also believe and support gender equality also believe that old traditions, roles and customs that built successful civilizations are toxic, outdated and need to be abolished.
this is despite that those same toxic and outdated trads, roles and custom build successful civilisations.
in fact, by 2030, 50% of women are projected to be single and childless.
gender equality has absolutely no place in human civilisation, especially one thats trying to recover from a nuclear war.
a nuclear war would either wipe out all of humanity, or kill off huge chunks of the human population.
either result is not good, but if large portions of the human race were killed off in a war, the survivors would have to rebuild and repopulate.
Something the both the legion and NCR are trying to do, but the legion would do a better job at it because they embrace tradition and reject equality.
iif the NCR were to take over the mojave wasteland, they would bring gender equality to the inhabitants of the mojave, which would result in birthrates declines which would also lead to a human extinction event.
if the legion were to take over the mojave wasteland, they would increase the birthrates, ensuring humanities survival.
in fact in one of the endings to new vegas, it says that the legion conquer the great khans and marry their women.
mr house himself isn't too interested in governing the mojave, he just doesn't want the NCR or the legion to take it over.
he's pretty content ruling over the city of new vegas and will just let waste landers live however they want as long as they don't bother him.
your probably thinking why i don't just play the game but side with the legion?
