in the past looks didn't really matter since most people lived a bleak and short life due to any number of reasons. But Now people live longer and so they're giving the luxury of choosing a better looking partner. The thing is though they're still plenty of genes amongst the population that may have been deemed good enough back then but are now unwanted due to the fact that we aren't on the verge of extinction anymore and have a foothold on the planet. Eventually though unattractive people are going to become extinct, how? Probably with advancements in medical technology. A day will come where babys will be born to have attractive features and if that fails they'll be able to correct any visual imperfections they may have with ease, unlike with todays primitive methods. I give it a few hundred years at most, especially once things like genetic engineering of babys becomes mainstream.
