I started reading the Elfen Lied manga after being completely lured by the anime adaptation , this shit looks written by a high school student

The director for the anime must have squeezed water out of stone , making a story that badly told into peak by his adaptation. The manga just kept getting worse as it went on , how do you fuck up a story of premises this good , the final chapter is made as a last ditch effort for a "good" ending after constant rape at a narrative level . Are writers this petty ? Do they not know bittersweet endings are always the most engaging and flexible with the story (as it was done in the Anime) . I read the entire thing in 2 days just to be faced with dissapointment

If anyone is actually interested in the story just watch the anime , on the long term it will age far better

The anime had a shit ending too.

Don't think so , it was far better than the manga , except for the fact that it is not conclusive to the story . The wish of the director that made the anime got overlapped by the manga creator, who wanted it to be made only as a means to sell more volumes , but it still had a better note to it than the manga . It exceeded the manga's quality and feels through keeping to the personal life drama formula and not introducing 6 gazillion new concepts , characters and world ending threats, things that ruin these types of stories. The anime kept to it's starting formula and didn't dissapoint , while the manga strayed further and further from the main charm it gave off (+ the author had to insert his fetishes inside for no reason relevant to the story, I read the script and he genuinely got mad because the director replaced one of the fetish characters with something else serving the same purpose)

By writing an anime , a director has to take up the challange to adapt the source material in video format . The ones who do this vary in their styles , and it is true that some of them are edgelords beyond measure , but the director of this one specifically exceeded the quality of even the source material , he added substance to it

Haven't read tha manga and never will. I found the anime ending too sappy and the fact that he forgives his parents' and sister's killer did not sit well with me. Also found it too contrived that they knew each other as children. I did not care one bit about the romance plot that this anime was all about. It was not even good romance anyway, all we see is the MC (and the writers) play the literal lobotomised girl for cheap ecchi.

Don't know about the manga. Thought the anime was schizophrenic. It didn't know what audience it was for. Hard gore sci-fi fans or cute domestic comedy fans. So it slops the both together. For me, that just doesn't work. I like pizza and ice cream. I don't like ice cream ON my pizza. Mahoromatic is another anime that tried to do this.

Lowk yes I thought that was retarded af too , doesn't even happen in the manga(never forgiven for it) , I guess they tried to clump up everything in one episode and it ended up seeming dumb as fuck ,

This is one of my deal breakers , it's so fucking overdone I just started looking away at those parts , awkward as fuck

I don't know, anime is goated because, if i'm not mistaken anime, there's one part where one soldier or whatever slaps or elbows some bitch that just speaked standing behind him:feelshaha:

that anime is made for foids who larp online as ‘femcels’. I watched the first five minutes and knew instantly that it was going to be some female power fantasy

Elab on this. I saw the anime a while ago but I didn’t read the mango.

The music box which plays the main theme exists only in the anime and replaces one of the foids who ends up coming to the main characters house. That foid stays there temporarily because she wants to attend the exams for some music faculty and teaches Nyu the main song

Ironically the only ones with those powers are foids, so ig you're right

Anime nowadays is just empty water slop
