Serious I need advice for college

I'm going to be starting college soon. I don't want to get the same reputation I had in school. First impressions are everything, so what should I do? I'm thinking of aggressively trying to making friends to establish a social circle, but I'm very much open to input. I'd love to hear advice from people that have gone through college, and wish they did things differently now that they have hindsight.

Most importantly, is it possible/what should I do to statusmaxx in college? (also keep in mind the college I am going to is very small in comparison to others, so reputation will be everything I believe)

It's not a community college, but it's not a university either. It does the same difficulty courses as the biggest colleges and give the same level degree, just has a low population

Lastchancel, I agree about friends, they don’t make things good/ fix anything but having a friend while going to school made things bearable/ less bad (tbh I only have one friend and went to community college while living at home so my advice probs isn’t helpful but having a friend really did help). I think they’re useful even if they aren’t going to raise your status. Even having just one person that I was cool with was so much better than being alone, and having some people to talk to might also help if you’re dead set on trying to get a gf because having a friend or group of friends can make it marginally easier to handle the butt ton of rejection us folks have to go through when actively trying to date and like we need all the help we can get on that front cuz trying to date (even just the raw number of times we have to try, not to mention the repeated rejection) is soul crushing.
