For example normtards actively chase status while inkwells don't care because they realize it's just a rat race and it's rigged against them but if the opportunity presents itself of course they will take any form of status, money or a girlfriend. One thing that OP is coping about is not wanting a gf but everything else is valid. I think it's one of those things that's definitely rent free in his head. Just like for the vast majority of men.
