I don't understand how people care about long distance racing sports at all

People talk about team sports as cope but at least they can be fun to watch. But cycling? Formula 1?

What the fuck is entertaining about watching this for hours on end?

I talked with a dude at my old work, he was really into NASCAR. One of the things he talked about was going to the event and how so many people were there. it's as if he was talking about just the experience of being there.
