One of my main copes – arguably my biggest – is maladaptively daydreaming and creating my own fictional characters and scenarios/stories. Considering that I NEVER consume Soywood slop, you’d think this unxpected, but I have a severe problem where my main characters are irony-poisoned, can’t take anything seriously, and break up tension with ironic jokes and sass. I’d attribute this to a number of influences:

- Thinking Deadpool was the coolest thing ever in late elementary/early middle school (2014-2015, I fucking hate him and Soyvel in general now)

- Kingdom Hearts and Kid Icarus: Uprising being my introduction to Japanese media back in late elementary school, in the sense of being the first franchises I got deeply immersed and invested in. KH obviously has ZOGsney’s influence all over it, while KI:U had a notoriously irony-poisoned localization

- Heavily consuming JewTubers like Onision, JonTron, and LeafyisHere in my formative years, which shaped a lot of my humor

This gayslop MCU ahh dialogue comes to me unconsciously and I cringe so hard whenever I catch it. I badly need to unlearn this. Can’t believe I’m chronically soy-infected :feelsUnreal: :kys:

Another dead on arrival thread :feelsseriously:

The irony poisoning thing is real. When you grew up online during the 2010s your brain gets wired to automatically deflect seriousness with humor.

Lounge is always dead-on-arrival.

As for detoxicating soyennial humor from your mind, I'd suggest watching older shows and movies. I don't touch anything past 2010 with a ten-foot pole now.

Yeah that’s the plan

That's a little surprising, you certainly don't come off as being soy here.

In my experience, zoomers are all irony poisoned beyond belief due to the media they grew up with.

It often reflects in their mannerisms both on/offline. That lack of sincerity is why I've had difficulties relating to most people my own age. Everything is jokes, said underneath several layers of irony, and it confuses me.

Same tbh but it’s probably just parasocial banter

These worlds can function as a substitute for friends
